MANSFIELD, Ohio- A local family is speaking out after a federal marshal shot their dog at their house Wednesday night.
Destiny Harvey said her dog Shady, a 3-year-old Labrador-Mastiff mix, was shot in the neck by a U.S. Marshal with the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. Marshals were inquiring about the whereabouts of a fugitive on South Foster Street in Mansfield.
“They said he charged them, but I doubt he did that. He just barks a lot,” Harvey said.
Harvey said her 13-year-old brother answered the front door.
“He said the cops came and knocked on the door, and asked him to put the dogs out. He put one dog that can’t walk very well into my mom’s room. And then he let the other dog out back, not knowing there were officers in the back yard,” Harvey said.
